Shopify ASO Audit
This guide shows you how to use the ASO Audit tool, step by step. No technical knowledge is needed. You can start without an account.
About the screenshots in this guide
Every illustration below comes from a real audit run inside the tool. We searched Blockify, picked the app named Blockify Fraud Filter, Blocker, and audited it against the target keyword fraud blocker. The numbers you see are this app's live results, so you can match each screen to what you will see on your own.
1. What this tool does
The ASO Audit checks any Shopify app listing and gives you:
β’ A health score out of 100, based on 6 parts of your listing. β’ A list of the Top 5 fixes to do first. β’ An AI Writer that rewrites your listing text (app name, subtitle, intro, details).
In short, it tells you what to fix and what to fix first with clear reasons. You can audit your own app or any competitor's app.

2. The 3 access levels
You can use the tool in three ways. More access means more accurate data.
Level
What you need
What you get
Visitor (no account)

Full audit with estimated momentum data. Some panels are locked.

Verified momentum data, badges, 1-star review alerts, and personal tips.
3. Step-by-step: your first audit
Step 1: Open the tool and search
1. Go to the ASO Audit page.
2. In the search box at the top, type the app name.
3. A dropdown shows up to 4 matching apps.
4. Click the app you want.
TIP: You can also paste the full App Store link (apps.shopify.com/your-app) and press Enter. The tool will find the app for you. If you make a small typo, a "Did you mean...?" suggestion will appear.

Before the audit runs, the tool asks for your target keywords. We set the Primary keyword to "fraud blocker" and added "blocker" as a Secondary keyword, then clicked Run audit. (See Section 4 for how this works.)

Step 2: Read your overall score
The audit loads in about 1β2 seconds. At the top you will see an overall score out of 100 and six dimension cards (the 6 parts of your listing). Each card has a color that tells you how urgent it is:
Color
Meaning
What to do
Green
Good (75%+)
Low priority. Leave it for now.
Amber
Has a gap (50β74%)
Fix this soon.
Red
Critical gap (under 50%)
Fix this first.

Step 3: Open each dimension to see details
Click any dimension card to expand it. You will see What's working (what you do well) and What's missing (what to improve). The six dimensions, in simple terms:
Title & Tagline: your app name and subtitle.
Description: your intro text and details text.
Visuals: your banners, video, and icon.
Categories & Integrations: your category fit and integrations list.
Technical & Trust: Built for Shopify badge, clear pricing, recent updates, privacy.
Velocity & Sentiment: your install/review momentum, category rank trend, and review health. This part is unique to Letsmetrix and carries the most weight.

Step 4: Read your Top 5 fixes
Below the scores you will find the Top 5 prioritized fixes. They are ordered by two things:
Impact: how much the fix helps your score.
Ease: how quick the fix is.
Each fix card shows a rank, the impact, the effort, and which dimension it helps. Quick text edits appear near the top because they are easy and helpful.
When a fix is about your listing text, you will see "Apply with AI Writer" (see Section 6).
When you finish a fix, tick its "Done" checkbox. The card fades to show progress.

How to read this from the Demo
For Blockify Fraud Filter, Blocker, the fastest wins are the four text fixes (#1, #2, #4, #5) - all rated ease 5/5 and solvable in the AI Writer in under a minute. The video fix (#3) has the highest impact of all but takes longer to record and caption, so the tool ranks the quick text edits ahead of it.
4. Set your target keyword (recommended)
By default the tool guesses your main keyword from your app name and subtitle. This is fine, but you get a sharper audit if you tell it the exact keyword you want to rank for.
Click Set target keywords.
A small window opens with three fields:
Primary keyword: your one main keyword.
Secondary keywords: 1β3 supporting keywords.
Long-tail keywords: longer phrases (optional).
As you type, the tool shows the search volume and difficulty for each keyword, so you can pick a keyword that is popular but still realistic to win.
Type your primary keyword and press Enter.
The audit re-runs against your target. The banner at the top changes from "We detected X as your keyword" to "Auditing against your target: X". Your score updates to match your real goal.
5. Save or share your audit
Click Share audit to copy the link to your clipboard. Send it to a teammate, or save it for later.
The link keeps your target keywords. Anyone who opens it sees the same audit you saw.
The audit also has a Download PDF button, so you can export the full report and share it offline.
6. Use the AI Writer
The AI Writer rewrites your listing text to fit Shopify's rules and use your keywords well. You need to be signed in to use it.
Step 1: Open the Writer
Click Apply with AI Writer on any text fix (for example, on a Subtitle suggestion). A panel slides in
from the right. If you are not signed in, a sign-up window appears first. Create a free account, then continue.
Step 2: Pick your version
For each field (app name, subtitle, intro, details), the Writer creates 3 versions:
Each version shows its character count and a check for your keywords.
Version 1 has a "Recommended" badge.
Read the three versions and click "Use this" on the one you like. Its border turns green and shows "Selected".

Step 3: Apply your choices
Click Apply.
Your chosen text is copied to your clipboard.
You will see a confirmation: "X variants copied to clipboard."
Open your Shopify Partners dashboard and paste the new text into your listing.
If you click Apply without choosing any version, the tool reminds you to "Select at least 1 version."
Step 4: Save a draft (optional)
If you are working on several fields, click Save draft so you can come back later. Your selected versions stay saved to your account. To close the Writer, press Esc or click outside the panel.
7. Connect Shopify Partner (for verified data)
This step is optional, but it makes your audit far more accurate. Without it, the momentum numbers are estimated. After connecting, they are verified.
Sign in to your free account.
Click Connect Shopify Partner.
Approve the connection (read-only access to your app metrics).
Wait 2β5 minutes for the first sync.
After connecting, your dashboard adds:
Verified scores instead of estimates.
Excellence badges when your app earns them (see below).
1-star review alerts so you can reply within 24 hours.
Retention and competitor insights you cannot see otherwise.
You connect Partner to see the true score, not to get extra points. Your score is always capped at 100.
WHY THIS MATTERS
Our audit of Blockify Fraud Filter, Blocker ran as a visitor, so the momentum figure (velocity 24/25) is estimated. Connecting Shopify Partner would replace the estimate with the real install/retention numbers (D1/D7).
8. Excellence badges
Badges are a mark of quality shown on the app card. They do not change your score; they show merchants your app is strong in one area.

LIVE DEMO
Blockify Fraud Filter, Blocker earned the Loved by Merchants badge - it has a 4.9-star rating across 1,505 reviews, and that badge needs no Partner connection. It does not yet have Global Ready, because its listing supports only 1 language.
9. Ongoing use (for connected users)
Once connected, come back any day to check:
Verified changes in your score since yesterday.
New 1-star reviews to reply to quickly.
Competitor changes - track up to 10 competitors and see every listing edit (price, screenshots, text, badges, category).

Quick FAQ
Do I need to pay?
No. The tool is free, including the free account.
Do I need an account just to audit an app?
No. You can audit any app as a visitor. An account is only needed for the AI Writer and saved data.
Why is my visitor score a little different from my connected score?
As a visitor, some momentum data is estimated, so the score can differ by a few points. The connected score is the accurate one.
Can I audit a competitor?
Yes. Search any app. Momentum data for apps you do not own is always estimated.
Can I change my listing from inside the tool?
Not yet. The AI Writer copies the new text to your clipboard, and you paste it into your Shopify Partners dashboard.
A NOTE ON CATEGORIES
Shopify usually lets you set your category once. Double-check it before you submit any change in Shopify Partners.
