The Install & Uninstall dashboard provides an overview of app growth and churn, helping you track acquisition, retention signals, and overall user base health.

How we get these data

Install & Uninstall data is collected from Shopify API App Events and processed into actionable insights.

The metric includes repeated installations and uninstallations; it does not count unique users. Example: If a merchant installs, uninstalls, and then reinstalls on the same day, it will count as 2 Installs and 1 Uninstall.

1. Install Chart

This chart visualizes all positive user growth activities.

Metric

Description

Installs

The total number of events recording a shop successfully installing the application within a specific period. This metric indicates the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and the app's coverage on the Shopify App Store. An upward trend suggests good customer attraction capabilities.

Re-opened

The number of returning merchants who reactivated a previously closed store on a given day, while your app remained installed.

This metric captures merchant reactivation and re-engagement behavior.

Active Charge Merchants

The number of merchants who generated a new charge on a given day, such as starting a paid plan or beginning a trial. This is a key conversion metric.

Charge Unfrozen Merchants

The number of merchants whose billing was resumed on a given day after being temporarily frozen. This metric indicates recovered revenue activity from merchants who were previously unable to be charged.

2. Uninstall Chart

This chart visualizes all user churn and negative activities.

Metric

Description

Uninstalls

The total number of events recording a shop removing the application within a specific period. This is a warning signal regarding product quality, onboarding experience, or pricing issues.

Closed

The number of merchant stores that were closed on a given day while your app remained installed.

Declined

The number of merchants whose charge attempt was declined. This is an early warning sign of potential churn.

Charge Frozen Merchants

The number of merchants whose billing was temporarily frozen on a given day by Shopify.

Charge Canceled Merchants

The number of merchants who canceled their subscription plan on a given day. This is a direct indicator of active churn from paying users.

3. Install & Uninstall

This chart visualizes your net daily growth by showing the difference between installs and uninstalls. The breakout table below provides the exact numbers for Installed, Uninstalled, and the net Change for recent days.

4. Monthly growth

These panels provide a quick historical comparison, showing your current net growth against the same period in previous months and years to help identify long-term trends.

The monthly growth chart displays installs versus uninstalls over a longer period, helping you visualize net growth (the difference between installs and uninstalls) to assess whether the application is growing or declining at a macro level.

5. Recent installs & uninstalls

This table provides a real-time, user-level log of the most recent install and uninstall events. It includes key details like the shop, their current status, plan, and MRR.
