Keywords
The “Keyword” section is your ASO hub, helping you track keyword rankings, understand discovery paths, and analyze competition to boost visibility on the Shopify App Store.
To fully see the traffic and events from each keyword, you must first connect your Shopify Partner API and GA4. Without these connections, you will only see general market data.
How we get these data
Keyword data is sourced from Google Analytics and is processed to provide you with a clear and actionable view.
Understand the metrics
This table explains each metric you'll find in the Keyword Analytics dashboard.
Metric
Description
Keywords
The specific words or phrases merchants use in the App Store search, helping you identify what your target audience is truly looking for.
Top 5 Apps
The top 5 apps currently ranking for a specific keyword. Use this to instantly identify and analyze your main competitors for each search term.
Difficulty
An estimated score of how competitive a keyword is, based on the authority of the apps ranking for it. This is crucial for prioritizing your ASO efforts: target low-difficulty keywords for quick wins or high-difficulty ones for your long-term strategy.
Position
Your app's current ranking for a specific keyword, updated daily. This metric directly tracks your core ASO performance, answering the question: Are your efforts moving you up or down?
P.Popular
(Position Popular) Your app's ranking position when the "Popular" filter is applied to a keyword search. This measures your app's authority and momentum for a keyword, not just its relevance.
U.Pviews
(Unique Page Views) The number of views your app page receives from a specific keyword. This metric shows which keywords are effectively driving traffic to your listing.
U.Events
(Unique Events) The number of app installations resulting from users finding your app using a specific keyword. This pinpoints which keywords are not just driving traffic, but are converting into actual users.
%CR
(Conversion Rate) The percentage of page views that resulted in an installation for a specific keyword. This metric reveals the quality of your traffic. High traffic but low CR may indicate a mismatch between the keyword and your app's value proposition.
%Bounce
(Bounce Rate) The percentage of users who view your app page from a specific keyword but leave without installing. A high bounce rate can indicate a mismatch between the searcher's intent and your app listing's content or value proposition, signaling a need to optimize your page.
Avg Position
(Average Position) The average ranking position of your app for a specific keyword over the selected time period. This smooths out daily fluctuations, providing a more stable view of your overall ranking performance and long-term trends.
Adding Keywords
You can build and expand your keyword list using two primary methods:
Manual Addition: To track a specific term, simply type your keyword into the input field and click Add. Ideal for monitoring your primary brand keywords, specific competitor terms, or new ideas from your own research.

Suggested Keywords: Explore keywords automatically discovered for you, sourced from real user searches and AI recommendations.

Simply click the "+" icon next to a suggested keyword to add it to your tracking list. Using these suggestions is a powerful way to uncover hidden opportunities and understand organic user behavior.
Keyword Frequency Analysis
This feature provides a market-wide analysis of keyword frequency, showing you how top apps optimize their listings so you can discover high-value keywords.

This table breaks down each Keyword, showing the Top Apps ranking for it, its Difficulty score, and a T.Count (Total Count) of its appearances in key listing sections like A.Name (App Name), Desc (Description), Feat (Features), and more.
To add a promising keyword directly to your tracking list from this analysis, simply click the "+" button in the Action column.
